Arts Adventure 2024-25

The Arts Adventure Series, presented by the LuCille Tack Center for the Arts, was developed to facilitate student learning through the Arts and is dedicated to serving schools, teachers and children through educational and cultural experiences. All performances are held in the exciting and intimate 500 seat theatre at the Tack. Study guides will supplement your classroom curriculum and assist in preparing your students for a positive theatre experience.

As the creator and host of the regional Emmy nominated show Full STEAM Ahead, Mister C is no stranger to finding exciting and engaging ways to explore STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) in our everyday lives.

Mister C is a 20 year educator whose mission is to transform how everyone thinks about learning and gets everyone singing, dancing and learning to the tune of science. Students and teachers will be amazed with this fun and educational series as Mister C uses humor, media and the engineering design process to make the ordinary EXTRAordinary!

Witness one of the astonishing art forms of Japan, origami. Kuniko will bring traditional stories to life in a unique experience for the children.

Welcome to the infinite world of Origami! In Japanese, ori means "to fold" and gami means "paper". Using origami, music and audience participation, Kuniko provides a magical introduction to Japanese culture and the art of simplicity. In "Origami Tales", mythological character masks & puppets, amazing flowers and a dragon—all made from origami—set the stage, while Kuniko shares heartfelt stories from ancient Japan.

Come here about the history of Jazz and experience a part of it first hand. This pro-group out of Seattle will bring the swinging 1920s to the 2020s.

Since 2013 Good Co has performed concerts, music festivals and outreach programs the world over and their music can be heard on radio, label compilations, independent films, and on television. The band has been a featured performer for Benaroya Hall in Seattle, The Smithsonian in Washington DC, and for festivals throughout the US,Canada, and Europe. They will bring the best of the 1920s, mix it with the best of the 2020s and show the kids a bit about the history of Jazz.

Get ready for two incredible Celtic artists who have played together for 40 years. They will teach about the different families of music and how they are related.

There is a point in certain musicians' careers where their music begins to be recognized for its influence on others. At that point, they cease to be part of the crowd, but rather, the standard to build upon. The duo Switchback, has become such a standard, with critical recognition of their contribution to Celtic and Americana music, as well as their overall success as consummate entertainers.

In their Arts Adventure show, students are introduced to the common elements between all forms of music. Classical, Bluegrass, Country, Jazz, Western, Rock, Folk, and Celtic genres are described and discussed in a fun and informative program. A brief description of each instrument played during the program (mandolin, bass, guitar, and percussion boards) is offered, concluding with the voice. Appreciation of acoustic music, the art of listening well, and an opportunity for student participation round out this popular school program.

An entertaining multimedia look at different animals. Join Lucas Miller (author and singing zoologist) for an exciting and musical look at nature!

Lucas Miller (The Singing Zoologist) has been singing about nature for over 30 years! His aim is to inspire a love and respect for nature through creativity, humor, optimism and energy. Lucas uses music, storytelling, video, puppets and whatever else makes it as fun and memorable as possible.

Lucas Miller: "I moved to Austin, Texas, in 1993 and was the first education director at what is now called the Austin Zoo, and back then was Good Day Ranch. I further honed my skills there and, in 1994, I started my own business doing on-site presentations for schools, festivals, libraries, and anyone that'd have me. Since then, millions of kids have seen my live performances and untold more have enjoyed my music, videos, and books. I love what I do and am so grateful to have made a career creating, inspiring, learning, and teaching. If you love nature, we're going to be friends.

From the great classics of orchestral repertoire to a fugue based on the theme from Tetris. Alias Brass has it all. They will provide a top notch inspirational musical experience while introducing new techniques and tunes for the kids to hear.

Described as "the only name for music innovation" by Martin Hackleman, formerly of the Empire and Canadian Brass, the Alias Brass Company, founded in 2013, is a collaboration of five uniquely talented artists and educators from across the nation. The Alias Brass Company's performances are comprised of standards and original compositions, along with concepts that blend virtuosic musicianship with a high level of entertainment. From Baroque and Classical, to Jazz and Pop, the Alias Brass Company's shows are "a sure-fire hit; chamber music of the future with something for everyone!"
